What to Wear When Traveling to a Cold Humid Climate

Summer Travel Panajachel, Guatemala

Probably what I dislike most about traveling is pre-styling outfits and it especially drags more when the destination you’re traveling to is currently on the opposite time of year. Right now winter season is in full effect in Guatemala — cool mornings, gloomy afternoons, rain and plenty of humidity. So, in order for my outfits to make sense I needed to consider comfortability (of course) and slightly warm pieces yet light-weight enough to survive the sticky humidity. Solution to my style task? A quarter-length top, shorts and a layered piece make up the ideal combo.

The Sophisticated 70’s

Plus Size Wide Leg Jumpsuit

You guys know neutrals are my thing; however, there’s one in particular that doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. I am referring to navy. Whether a rich blue or more on the opaque side, navy is a color that represents sophistication. One that looks stunning on every skin tone day or night. Recently I was contacted by Les&Mich, an online boutique that offers a high quality assortment of clothing (including plus size), accessories, and jewelry within an affordable price range (who doesn’t want that?). They were kind enough to send me an item from their curvy collection along with a beautiful, dainty open cuff bracelet.

Simplicity.

Indecisiveness is usually not something I fall under, but there are times when deciding on an outfit can be tricky. In such situations, I always reach for my go-to color. Yes, I’m referring to black. It is simple, classic, and you can never go wrong with it. Here in Miami, it feels nothing like winter so taking full advantage of skirts and open-toe shoes is a must.

ABOUT THE LOOK

Top: Mossimo (similar here) | Skirt: Mossimo | Shoes: Madden Girl (similar here) | Bracelet: Charming Charlie | Purse: Madden Girl (similar here)

This printed circle skirt is one of my favorites to wear year round. The textured pattern on the skirt adds a nice detail, not to mention how sassy the flare on it makes me feel. Options are endless when trying to pick a top to pair with, but I felt like keeping things very effortless and went with this black turtleneck. I loooove turtlenecks! But for us girls with a long-round face, finding the right one can be quite a task. For those who struggle with the same issue, I find that lower turtlenecks like this one work much better!

For an outfit this simple, you don’t need much else other than your favorite purse, heels, and some accessories just for fun. Wear out on a dinner date or even a last minute holiday event.

XO,

Drea
