As the seasons change, I typically like to upgrade the look of pieces in my wardrobe from previous seasons for re-use. With DIY trends booming this Spring and a little trick, I added cute sequence patches to spruce up this faux suede skirt from October.

Conserve the quality of the piece(s) you’re working with by using safety pins in this DIY. That’s right — pin the patches instead of ironing or using fabric glue. I used small gold safety pins, inserting them from the inside of the skirt, poked it through the patch and pinned it inwards. Ta-da! The pins are concealed.
This simple DIY trick is cool because you’re still creating the illusion of wearing a new trendy piece without commitment while protecting its overall look/quality. As seasons & trends change, this leaves endless ways to style and modernize your look.
Complete your look by including a Spring must-have, like I did with this Kiyonna off-the-shoulder top. It’s a stunning blouse with crochet detailing around the neck that can be worn year-round, even if the off-the-shoulder obsession dies out (let’s hope not). Adjust the sleeves to your liking — lower them to bare your shoulders or keep covered with the sleeves up. To finish off this total 70’s inspired outfit, some oversized round sunglasses & platform wedges were the way to go. How are you girls incorporating past items into your Spring wardrobe? Let me know in the comments below.
